One of my biggest weaknesses is skincare products, since I was circa 16 my obsession has grown and grown and it is safe to say I have trailed a fair few over the last 15 or so years. Fortunately for me it is a very saturated market and I doubt I’ll ever be short of products. Less fortunate for the bank balance. The latest additions to my beauty cabinet are these two Clarins products. Clarins is such a luxurious and trustworthy brand. A Bizarre thing to say perhaps but I love it’s ethos of really caring about the performance of their products and the natural approach to skincare. Clarins always opts for natural products over chemical ones and uses over 250 different plant extracts in all of it’s products. Those who follow this beauty section will know the conscious effort I make toward natural products and natural skincare. Clarins also takes its social and environmental responsibility very seriously and work toward protecting biodiversity, working within fair trade rules and helping communities considerably worse off than ourselves.
I have been in the market for a good facial oil since the start of winter having been coupling with my Origins Night-a-mins with Rosehip oil for extra hydration. Having heard a few good things about this Clarins oil so it was one for the Christmas list. I say list I may have brought it and gave it to Mr T to wrap but whatever.
I was sold just at the smell of this oil, it is divine and like you are at the spa. It is just perfect for bed time, the smell alone relaxes you. Applying this oil is my favourite part of my skin care routine at the moment and I am sat here typing in it’s aroma having just applied. It is made from 100% pure plant extracts, containing extracts of Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchid. Added Hazelnut Oil helps prevent moisture loss and the formation of fine lines. Ideally it is best suited for dry or combination skin.
It is so hydrating, in fact I didn’t realise just how dehydrated my skin must have been as it absorbs really well into my skin. My skin feels so much smoother and brighter for using this product and I don’t find it too oily or greasy. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this product I cannot speak highly enough of it.
Application tips: add a few drops to the palm of your hand and warm it. Take a deep breath and really inhale the aroma and then dab onto your face and neck using an open palm. Then revisit the areas using just your fingers to ‘drain’ any excess.
Serums should not be overlooked, not in my book anyway. After washing my face of a morning it can sometimes feel a bit tight and I find applying a good serum before my moisturiser/primer really helps soften my skin. I have been an avid Lancome Serum user in the past and have not been disappointed. This Clarins Serum however, for me, surpasses the gentifique serum.
Again the smell and texture is to die for, it is so soft and luxurious and small amounts really make a huge difference. It contains over 21 active ingredients including the instruction of Tumeric, which is ‘distinguished for its exceptional anti-ageing properties’. This new Double Serum is set to acts on the appearance of major signs of skin-ageing, skin is more radiant, firmer and fine lines are smoothed.
The bottle itself has a two measure application, a smaller amount for those of you with oily skin, for warmer climates or the summer months. The larger drops (albeit still not a large amount) is generally recommended for those with dry skin and in the colder climates and winter months. I am currently using the larger about and find it just enough.
I must say at £75.00 it is not cheap, for me I do think it is worth the money and fully expect this product to last a good 8-9 months if not more, making it that little bit more justifiable – right Mr Tammy? Who am I kidding? He loved mine so much he brought one for himself. Really.
Note at the time of publishing this product complete with beauty Flash Balm and Exfoliator is available from Clarins.com for £56.00 in their January Sale. Yes I am gutted at having paid £75.00 for this a few weeks ago.
Application tips; as above add the required measure to your palm and then rub your hands together to warm. Then dab onto your face and neck using an open palm. Then revisit the areas using just your fingers to ‘drain’ any excess.
