Ok so Glossier isn’t really new, not now anyway but it is fairly new on these shores. It is the brain child Emily Weiss, the founder & CEO of beauty editorial site Into The Gloss. I read an interview with her in one of my favourite beauty mags and found her to be really inspiring, I also really love the ethos behind Glossier and the way in which is came about. Essentially it is their mindset that beauty should be ‘fun, easy, imperfect, and personal’ and they consider ‘skincare to be essential, make up a choice’ . I couldn’t agree more. I love the simple and fun approach to the necessity of skincare and priming your face for make up that best suits you.
Glossier only started shipping to the U.K in October and I received my first order in November and have been trailing it ever since.
My first purchase was the Glossier Phase 1 Set consisting of the Milk Jelly Cleanser, Priming Moisturiser and Balm Dotcom. This set is all about preparing your face for the perfect dewy hydrated look. I loved the packaging. Simple considerations like that really help build a brand not just a product that you can fall in love with. The products are sealed in a pink bubble wrap lined zip bag and then stored in a ‘Glossier’ box that is ideal for storing your bits and bobs. I am currently re-using mine to keep jewellery in.
The Milk Jelly Cleanser
I have been really impressed with this. I am normally a die hard Lancome Lait Glateis Doucher fan and wasn’t really expecting to be swayed. Swayed I was though. It is definitely a more gel than milk consistency and is really soft and gentle to your skin. It dissolves make up on your face well, including heavy duty mascara. It doesn’t completely remove your face of all make up, well not a full face. It will remove most of a light covering. Alternatively it is perfect for washing your face of a morning, pre primer and it really does help to give that dewy look.
I know there can be some debate over primers and their use but I personally am a big fan. I do believe this one to be more moisturiser than primer and a little on the watery side. That said I think it is a really good base for your skincare and make up. It contains Hylaronic Acid to give that really hydrated look, anti redness complex and a handful of essential vitamins. This has quickly become one of my go to products of a morning. I don’t find it thick enough for a night cream but have read good things about Glossier’s Priming Moisturiser Rich, if a thick hydrating night cream is what you are after.
This comes in 6 different flavours, I opted for coconut. It is a very thick moisturiser that really only requires small amounts. It is wonderfully hydrating for your lips and I tend to apply it morning and night. It is ideal on these cold and windy days we are having of late. I also apply it to my cuticles and round my nails as these are often really dry (too much washing up) and I can be prone to biting them. Gross I know. Since applying this daily the dry and flaky skin around my nails has all but disappeared.
My favourite thing about all these Glossier products is that they are parabin free, cruelty free, fragrance free and hypoallergenic. The cleansing jelly is also suitable for vegans. All three of these products can be brought as a set for just £35.00, which to my mind is really great value for money. Although I bagged a real bargain and brought mine for just £28.00 on special offer.
Next on my Glossier hit list is Super Bounce, Hyaluronic Acid, goodness knows my skin could do with it in these cold snaps and late nights.
Are you a Glossier Fan? Have you used it yet? If so what do you think? I’d love to hear from you.
