I was a late comer to the lipstick game, being all about the eyes throughout my teens. I have big eyes and played on them. Lips not so much. It feels now however it is all about the lips. My go to lippy has always been MAC, there is just so much to choose from. However like any good beauty fan I have been branching out of late, I love Smashbox’s offerings and have recently discovered Calvin Klein’s deliciously Luxurious range. My, make up adoring auntie has been a long time CK lippy wearer and she is all about the statement lip so I knew I was in good company here.
I was sent a mixed bag of ‘various’ colours, I am always concerned as you think you’re going lumbered with the purples and black that only come out on halloween, if you’re lucky but I was oh so pleasantly surprised. I received 5 shades.
My most ambilvilant colour, just because of my colouring. I am not always sure about blonds and shades of red, but actually I am really loving this colour. It is a deep darker shade with a red with an almost maroon tinge. It is perfect for approaching winter and of course the festive season.
A slightly more vibrant red ideal for a night out or ‘glamming’ up a look. Again it really lends itself to the festive season but would look equally spectacular glistening in a sun.
This is a typical colour for me a bright and vibrant pink. I wear a lot of pink and find it one of my more suited colours. It is a real summery colour but I wear it all year round. I love a pink lip.
This shade is normally my second choice colour or a more ‘every day’ shade. It is a paler pink a more nude, goes with everything, every out fit day or night. It also suits any colouring. It is one for everyone
Actually this is my most ambivalent colour is blonds are iffy on red then orange is whole other ball game. I have never worn an orange lipstick as I haven’t been brave enough. Despite some serious Cheryl Cole envy when she brought orange lipstick back into the forefront. That said, I love this colour and I am an orange convert, when coupled with the right outfit. If you’re a brunette with olive skin this colour would be perfect for you, but blondes, don’t rule it out.
All in all I am really happy with the 5 out of 5 shades I received and have a colour for most occasions, and seasons. The pigmentation of the lipstick is really good, I am really impressed with it, the colour takes really well and it has a fantastic staying power. Re-application needs are minimal. What is more the price is quite remarkable. All 5 of these shades were curtsy of Chemist 4 Ufor £9.99 (!). The only thing, the box and tube has a plasticy and slightly cheap feel, but that really is neither here nor there and certainly doesn’t take away from the quality of the lipstick.
