Now that the baby days are over and leggings are no longer a pre requisite, rediscovering my wardrobe has been back in full swing for a while. It can be difficult though, getting the balance between
boring practical and stylish. Sadly as a headless-chicken-esk stay at home mum of two sometimes practicalities do have to weigh in, Mulberry and messy play don’t mix. I don’t think practical has to mean drop however and as such I have teamed up with Look Of The Day – LOTD to bring you my parenting with style weekday lookbook.
Monday is playgroup day, afternoon pre-school for the boy, phonics and swimming for the girl. It is a full on busy mum day ferrying toddlers to places they need to be. Running around, picking them up, getting them changed and fed. Weather permitting I am mostly on foot hauling 4 stones of toddler and double pram. I need comfort as much as I need style. I have my trusty black back pack. I fought the back pack for as long as I could but I have finally succumbed, and they’re ‘in’ at the minute so it is justifiable. A stable pair of black jeans, Adidas originals and combat green hoodie. Teamed with bright lippy and mum bun we are ready to go.
‘Tuesday me day’ the day of the week that is mine, well mine and the Mr usually. Both children do pre school Tuesday and once dropped off it is straight to the gym. Post gym life admin is tended to, blogmin and the work load is tackled. Some Tuesdays, OK most Tuesdays Mr Tammy and I partake in a date afternoon of some descript. We lunch somewhere, drink wine and use it as an excuse to get out the house and pretend it is Saturday night. My look of the day is therefore usually something smart, something I feel I have dressed up in and made an effort with, these pink high wasted pleated trousers are the perfect smart-casual look, especially when teamed up with some heels. I love the colour, detailing around the waist and length. They are a must of army up and coming Portuguese getaway.
Wednesday I may be feeling a little sorry for myself after Tuesday and my outfit often reflects this. The kids I and have the morning together either in or out of the house and the girl has pre-school in the afternoon. The boy and I have a date to spend some time together. For fragility I have an oversized all-the-rage slogan tee teamed up with my trusty Zara jeans. The red of course needs some statement lips to go with it.
Day trip day. Thursdays we have the whole day, no pre-schools, playgroups or swimming lessons. Thomas land, the Zoo, any attraction really we’re there. I love this pinny combo for days like today. It is perfect for any season too. A short tee in the summer, long sleeve top and tights on those colder days. I have teamed it with this beautiful bag. It has a shoulder strap or an over the body strap and a separate bag inside to keep all those essentials – saves me stressing that I’ve left the car key on Bertie Bus at Thomas land.
We’re back out and about lugging the pram to playgroup, the park, the town. Again we’re out and about most of the day – ‘these boots are made for walking’ and that is precisely what’ll they do. I love these black Chelsea boots with a the gold detailing. They go with everything and the gold really makes the boots stand out from the crowd.
