Now I am one of those unlucky people who was gifted naturally flat and lifeless hair. Granted some people see this as a bonus as I don’t own a pair of straighteners and have zero use for them, but I do believe there is truth in the saying, you always want what you can’t have. I would love naturally bouncy and curly hair. Instead I have straggly, thin lifeless locks.
Over the years I have spent goodness knows what on, mouses, hairsprays, powders, hairdryers and curling wands to try and bring some life into my hair. Any products out there designed to bring some flair to your hair I am there.
Shampoos and conditioners are no exception, I have tried them all. So when I was asked to sample the Luxurious 7 Day Volume collection from John Frieda it was always going to be a yes.
I was kindly sent, the 7 Day Volume Shampoo, Conditioner and In Shower Treatment. They all boast the newest hair care related technology for volumising and transforming flat fine hair, along with the added bonus of detangling, a little something extra I hadn’t bargained for.
There is nothing complicated about these products, you use your shampoo and conditioner as you would any other. The in shower treatment needs to stay in your hair for 3-5 minutes, pushing it for busy mums admittedly, but if I have managed to do it with two toddlers staring at me, then there is hope for you all.
I have been using it for about 2 weeks now and on average I wash my hair every other day. Note on average, I cannot promise I have stuck to this religiously… a one and two year old and all that. Also for the first week it was 30 degrees everyday and I mostly wore my hair up. It is very long hair and it was so very hot.
So the verdict; well it is not the magic cure to giving me no effort hair with bounce, but then I didn’t expect it to be. It is after all shampoo and conditioner, not a personal hairdresser. I would say however if I left it dry naturally my hair is not quite so flat and lifeless as usual. The real difference however comes with associated styling. A bit of mouse, literally a tiny bit, mine is nearly empty, and a quick blow dry (quick being the operative word, again, toddlers, x2) and it has made a notable difference.
I have laid off the back coming for a bit and the ‘volumising’ powder and I haven’t missed them, which surely cannot be a bad thing for my hair. So in hat respect I would say I am impressed with the product and would spend my own money on it.
However, by far the best bit about all three of these products is their ability to ‘detangle’. My hair is very long, almost to the bottom of rib cage and it gets knotted daily. So much so I have an appointment booked to get it all cut off because I am that annoyed with dragging my tangle teaser through it. Screwing it up into mum buns probably isn’t helping that, but needs must. Anywho, over the previous shampoo and conditioner combo I was using, I have noticed a huge improvement. Without doubt it is easier, so much easier and quicker, to get a brush through my hair. I am not dragging out knots, pulling half my hair out in the process. It is for that, that I would certainly recommend this product and again, purchase myself.
So much so there is a niggle at the back of my head as to whether or not I will go ahead with the big cutting of the locks. I have a few weeks to make my mind up so watch this space.
