#MeetTheFamily…Mission; Mindfulness

Hello there and welcome to the latest instalment of my series #MeetTheFamily. It is a spin off from our linky #FamilyFun. You may know that #FamilyFun is a linky where you can link up any blog post with the idea of it being a fun linky where you share your posts, comments and love with your blogging family. This post is all about getting to know our blogging family a bit better. So without further ado I will introduce you to this weeks member:

Mission; Mindfulness

I am a huge fan of Mission Mindfulness blog. I have been a mindfulness fan for a long time and whilst I struggle to stay on track sometimes this blog never fails to keep me going. I always takes tips from Hayley’s blog and it serves as a great reminder in my mindfulness journey. If you haven’t tried mindfulness yet then I certainly would recommend and Hayley’s blog is a great place to start so please do check it out.
1.   Tell us a little bit about yourself, who you are, your blog and what we can expect from your blog?
Hello, I’m Hayley and my blog is Mission: Mindfulness.

I am a mummy to 3 children – a 6 year old boy and toddler twin girls, a secondary school teacher and an advocate of all things mindfulness related.
I blog about life juggling parenting and teaching and also focus on exploring how mindfulness can help busy people and their families.  I draw on my own personal experience of trying to live mindfully and also the qualifications that I have that enable me to teach adults and young people Mindfulness.
However, I don’t limit myself to any particular topics on my blog really.  And just write about whatever I think is pressing on a particular day.  my blog, my rules I suppose!

2. When you’re not blogging, how do you fill your time – are you a working parent, SAHP, WAHP? When you’re not working what do you like to do for fun?
When I’m not blogging I’m either teaching History, running Mindfulness workshops and courses or hanging out with the family.  I’m really lucky to work part-time (3 days a week) so enjoy my days off pottering around south-east London with the kids – doing the school run, going to local playgroups or very often we can be found at one of our local parks.  On those rare moments of ‘me-time’ I will do a formal mindfulness practice, some Pilates, or try and get out for a run.
3. How long have you been blogging and what is your favourite and least favourite thing about it?
I’ve been blogging for just over a year now but really upped my output about 6 months ago. I love getting my thoughts down ‘on paper’ – finding it really cathartic and empowering. The interaction with the blogging community is lovely too.  I, like lots of other bloggers I know, hate the self-promotion and social media side of things, but know it is part of it.
4. If you could pass on a piece of advice to a newbie blogger what would it be?
My advice to a newbie would be to join Katie from Mummy In A Tutu’s Tribal Chat group. Katie has done brilliantly establishing such a warm and supportive blogging community.  It’s a great place to virtually ‘meet’ other bloggers and to get support and advice.
5 If money were no issue, and you could tick one thing off your bucket list what would it be and why?.
Oooooo this is an interesting question.  I would love to do another ski season, but this time with the kids too (as I worked in the Alps pre-kids before) and immerse all of the family in a winter season in the mountains.  I think we would all benefit so much from it!

6. Can you share some love and tell us what blogs you are enjoying at the moment and that you would recommend.
There are so many great blogs out there but I’m going to focus on the less well known ones for my suggestions here.  What My Fridge Says is fabulous for a positivity pick-me-up,  Madhouse Mum never fails to entertain and be thought-provoking, Leaning In is a real can-do blog for working mums, Burnished Chaos gives some wonderful advice in the ‘words to live by’ series and Our Rach Blogs is hilarious and heart-warming in equal measure.
Please do check Hayley out on;

Thanks so much for featuring us Sarah and for your kind words about the blog. Looking at the at photo from the twins’ newborn days reminds me just how tired me and the hubby were :-). Right now to go and do some a formal mindfulness practice before the kids wake up. Thanks again – I love this series and the linky. xx #familyfunlinky

Ahhhh Karen – what a lovely thing to say!!! My 6th formers once likened me to a swan – working hard under water but looking fairly serene on the surface and that’s probably true (though I look less serene sometimes these days – that was said pre-twins!!!!). xx
