#MeetTheFamily…Bobsy’s Mum

Hello there and welcome to the latest instalment of my series #MeetTheFamily. It is a spin off from our linky #FamilyFun. You may know that #FamilyFun is a linky where you can link up any blog post with the idea of it being a fun linky where you share your posts, comments and love with your blogging family. This post is all about getting to know our blogging family a bit better. So without further ado I will introduce you to this weeks member:

Bobsy’s Mum.

I am so pleased to introduce you to Donna from Bobsy’s mum she is a regular linker at #familyfun and I always enjoy reading her posts. She shares some amazing recipes that really make your mouth water and just have a gander at her IG for glimpse of what I am talking about. So Donna thank you so much for taking part, and over to you.

1. Tell us a little bit about yourself, who you are, your blog and what we can expect from your blog?

Hi all! I’m Donna, my blog is www.bobsysmum.co.uk. Named after my poor daughter, who will no doubt hate us when she’s older. Her name is Robyn, but somehow this became “Bob” “Bobyn” “Bobsy” and many other variations.

My blog is a little bit of a mish mash of all the things we like. My husbands a chef, and we both love food, so there are lots of recipes. We love crafting, but I’m awful at it…which I like to think is accessible to all. Then there are just little snippets from our life really. Every now and then I wonder if I need more of a “niche”, but wouldn’t be able to choose one.

2. When your not blogging, how do you fill your time – are you a working parent, SAHP, WAHP? When your not working what do you like to do for fun?
Blogging has changed my life massively. From writing my blog, I rediscovered a love of writing, that has been dormant for years now. I left my job in retail, as they were being very difficult when it came to flexibility, and decided to try and make a living as a freelance writer.

It was a huge risk, as I hadn’t ever written professionally. But, it’s working out really well, and I’m so pleased I did it.

When I’m not working, I think I’m possibly a bit boring. We’re that awfully soppy couple that walk about ASDA unbearably happy! We like watching TV box sets, films, we play board games, which my nearly 6 year old has just started to get in to.

I’m a reluctant runner. I did the couch to 5k last spring/summer. Then ran a 10k in October, that I loved. But then it got cold, and I lost all motivation. I know I’ll love it when I get back into it, but it’s that forcing myself to leave the house that I struggle with.

3. How long have you been blogging and what is your favourite and least favourite thing about it?

I’ve been blogging for about 5 months now I think. I know we all say this, but it’s been really lovely getting to “meet” other bloggers.

My least favourite thing…I was completely clueless when I started, and all the design aspects were a total mystery. I can easily spend an hour changing the colour of a line. I get really frustrated when I’m entering all the code and nothing is happening. But then, when something does work, I get really excited. I suppose my favourite thing is sort of the same. I feel like I’ve learnt so much, and I have all these new skills. I love learning! Such a nerd.

4. If you could pass on a piece of advice to a newbie blogger what would it be?

Don’t stress. When I first started, I worried so much that no-one was reading it. Just keep writing, and trying new things, and it will come. Get involved in social media, and have fun, but don’t feel pressured to “grow your blog” if you write well, it will grow on its own.

5. If money were no issue, and you could tick one thing off your bucket list what would it be and why?

How bad is it that I can’t think of anything? It’s because I’m happy, not boring. To be honest, as practical as this is, I’d probably just buy our dream house. We have been living in a tiny flat for the last 4 years, and house hunting is a nightmare. Then I’d buy 1000’s on pairs on converse, because I love them.

6. Can you share some love and tell us what blogs you are enjoying at the moment and that you would recommend?

I love stressymama Sam started blogging about the same time as me, and was one of my first blogger friends, so I love to catch up on how she’s doing. Mrs A is another favourite, such wonderful creations. I’ve recently ordered a Unicorn, but there’s about 10 other things I want her to make me!

Nice to learn more about Donna. I did the Couch to 5K too and am training for my first ever 10K in May. I’m scared, but it’s great to hear you enjoyed your one! It sounds like you’re doing incredibly well, especially for only 5 months blogging. #familyfun

Lovely to learn more about you Donna – you have achieved lots in a short space of time! And I don’t think you sound boring at all, board games are the best. 😃Well done on the running too, I hate exercise so am in awe of everyone who runs! #FamilyFun

I don’t feel like I’ve achieved much at all, I’m still very much faking knowing what I’m doing!

I hate the idea of exercise, but then enjoy it if I force myself!

Another converse lover?!? My husband has about 5 different pairs. Pink, Black, Red, Blue, Black/Blue camouflage, and he’s wanted to find a green pair. I though he was the only person with this obsession! Lol! Thanks for the encouragement to a new blogger, as well! #FamilyFun

    • February 22, 2017 / 9:42 pm

I’ve only got 2 pairs right now, but I’ve had so many different ones over the years!
