Hello there and welcome to my new series of meet the family. It is a spin off from our linky #FamilyFun. You may know that #FamilyFun is a linky where you can link up any blog post with the idea of it being a fun linky where you share your posts, comments and love with your blogging family. This post is all about getting to know our blogging family a bit better. So without further ado I will introduce to the first member…
I couldn’t really start with anyone else, my first in the series is to my blogging bestie and linky co-host Karen from Two Tiny Hands. Karen and I first crossed paths when we responded to a tongue and cheek post by Katie from Mummy in a Tutu – Blogger seeks personal tribe. We have since been thrown into a little tribe of bloggers who talk daily about our blogs, our family and our daily lives. I am in awe of Karen and her outdoorsy lifestyle and fearless approach to maintaining said lifestyle with a baba in tow. Camping, rain or shine via public transport or bike is no easy task yet Karen makes it look effortless. I think I would have a breakdown. So Karen over to you.
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself, who you are, your blog and what we can expect from your blog?
My name is Karen and you can find me blogging away at twotinyhands.co.uk. I’m a Mum of one and a girlfriend to the other. Dave is my partner and my son is affectionately known as the Robot on the blog. We are a bit of an outdoorsy busy family and are always doing something. We tend to go walking, cycling or camping often at the same time. On the blog you will find our adventures documented for us to look back at some time. We try and live in the moment and hope this comes across.
2. When your not blogging, how do you fill your time – are you a working parent, SAHP, WAHP? When your not working what do you like to do for fun?
Official Stay at home Mum here. We made the decision that one of us should stay at home rather than send the Robot off to be looked after by someone else. Dave who is a self employed plumber works really hard but the bonus is that he can work flexible hours too. Sometimes he can pack up on a Wednesday morning and we can head off into the sunset by the evening. It’s that whole living in the moment thing.
Fun Fun Fun, life is meant to be enjoyed and we spend a lot of time giving the Robot time to play, explore and just generally fill that little brain with as much information as possible!
3. How long have you been blogging and what is your favourite and least favourite thing about it?
I have been blogging on and off for the past 15 years but I have never really stuck at it before. I started two tiny hands back in August 2015 but didn’t really kick start the consistent blogging until February. By consistent I mean not only the writing regularly but the promoting and finding the people to actually read my blog.
The favourite thing about the blogging is the people I have virtually met. Some of them feel like they have been my friends for life and I’ve never even met them. It really is just brilliant.
The one thing that gets me down is the self doubt over whether I am doing a good job or not
4. If you could pass on a piece of advice to a newbie blogger what would it be?
Be persistent and just write. Don’t worry if its any good. The more you write the better you will get. I cringe at some of my earlier blog posts! Please don’t go and find them I haven’t deleted them!! Although do, have a giggle, it may improve my click through stats, just don’t judge me.
5. If money were no issue, and you could tick one thing off your bucket list what would it be and why?
I’ve not really got a bucket list on the go… adding this to my to do list… if money was no option though I’d like to own a nice size house with an English country garden that I could grow veg in and raise a few chickens and things. Then go off on lots of little trips around the UK with the family.
Just read that back, that sounds lame!! I don’t need fancy holidays and fast cars to be happy!
6. Can you share some love and tell us what blogs you are enjoying at the moment and that you would recommend?
I read a lot of blogs and I wish I had time to selectively say I read everyone’s posts but I don’t but I do make sure I select certain people when I spot them in link ups:
Squirmy Popple – I really love Katies writing style. Our kids are very close in age and find that they have a lot in common so it’s good to make notes from!
Dear Bear and Beany and Hot Pink Wellingtons – I first discovered them in the Happy Days Linky and I always love to find out what they are getting up to. They now run #sharingthebloglove another awesome linky to be involved in.
