Pick of the week

Pick of the week

Well this week has been full of poorly babies.  Both babies have had a course of antibiotics, soaring temperatures and been pretty darn poorly so it’s been a bit of a trying week at times. Nonetheless there were some good times. In fact I couldn’t narrow down my pick of the week to just one thing so I have cheated and allowed myself two.

Firstly I just have to mention my shiny new website. Like many an ICT GCSE was compulsory at school, I took it and I think I got B but I can’t say that  stood me in good stead for life, using excel perhaps, but building a website not so much. To be fair when I did my GCSES the Internet wasn’t quite the lifeline it is now, we still had ‘dial up’ to get online and you couldn’t use the phone and the Internet at the same time. My gosh our kiddies will have no idea!  So going ‘self hosted’ was something that filled me with dread. My blog would be offline whilst I navigated my way round WordPress.org uploaded themes, redisgned them and what if I couldn’t do it? It was, all in all a bit of mission, it took just under a week to release my domain name and transfer it to my new hosts – a couple of weeks ago I wouldn’t of even have known what that sentence meant. Then came the dreaded transferring the blog – I did require considerable help from the WordPress support team but after about 48 hours, their help and my own faffing about, I had a new fancy pants website for my blog, and I love it.

Secondly I can’t not mention this, Good Friday – how bloody lovely was it. The sun was out, the sunnies were on and the bubbles started to flow. My good mummy friend and I hit the pub garden all by ourselves, no babies and sat quietly, uninterrupted OUTSIDE with an ongoing supply of bubbly. Oh. My. God it was heavenly. It was great blooming Friday as far as I was concerned. The simple things ey. I did however come home to a poorly baby with a temp of 39.9 so came back to reality with a crash.

Happy Easter y’all

Brilliant transfer to WordPress! I like the feel of your site, very clean! I need a re-design but I am holding out for some inspiration!! Love the Easter egg picture :) Having Sun on Friday was uplifting, and lucky you getting a child free break with the bubbles. Hope your little one gets better soon xxx

Oh well done you on the new website … wordpress are ridiculously helpful aren’t they? I just redesigned my blog with one of their templates and am thrilled with it but couldn’t have done it without their support. Will head over and look at yours … I haven’t gone self-hosted though! Perfect picture in the sun from Good Friday – thats the life! Hope your children are heaps better now … hate fevers with a passion! #bigpinklink

The website looks fab! I am jealous of your baby-free bubble drinking. Hope they are all recovered now and that you’ve enjoyed the bank holiday weekend. #bigpinklink

Your new site looks fabulous!! I started by being self hosted, and as I had no idea what I was doing when I set the blog up, it seems I got lucky by doing this, because I know lots of people who’ve gone through a lot of stress making the dreaded switch over!
I’m so envious of the child free bubbles in that beautiful sunshine! We also went to a pub garden, and the children were actually really well behaved, but it’s still not as relaxing as going without them!!
    Thanks for sharing with #bigpinklink!
